Pityriasis versicolour

• Pityriasis versicolour is a full body rash caused by a yeast infection, Malassezia

• Presentation: typical rash- beige/ fawn coloured areas become hypopigmented after sun exposure

• Diagnosis: clinical

• Management: clotrimazole cream or shampoo

Pityriasis Rosea

• Pityriasis Rosea is a rash of unknown cause, postulated to be caused post virus, e.g. herpes

• Presentation: herald patch, followed by body 'Christmas tree' pattern rash 1-2 weeks, taking 4-6 weeks to resolve

• Diagnosis: clinical

• Management: self limiting disease, requiring no management.
