• Tremor types include: resting, postural and intention

• Parkinson's produces a resting tremor

• Essential Tremor produces a postural tremor (worst when fixed against gravity)

• Cerebellar disorders cause an intention tremor (worst with movement)

Types of Tremor

Resting Tremor: 

• Unilateral- Parkinson's Disease , 

• Bilateral- Parkinsonism

Postural Tremor:

• Essential Tremor 

• Alcohol Abuse

• Medication induced

Intention Tremor

• Cerebellar dysfunction

• Alcohol Abuse

• Lithium toxicity

• Central CNS pathology- e.g. stroke, brain tumour

Wilson's Disease tremor: postural, intention, resting or wingbeating
