• Mumps is a highly contagious virus and is the commonest cause of gross neck swelling (parotiditis)

• The MMR vaccination successfully protects against mumps however does not have universal uptake

• Presentation: parotiditis, orchitis, fevers; meningitis

• Management: supportive- paracetamol & NSAIDs
