Extra Dural Haematoma

Exam Cram

• Arterial bleeding into space between dural and cranium

• 75% middle meningeal artery

• Presentation: high impact trauma in child or adult

• Diagnosis: CT-Head shows haematoma (bi-convex or lentiform shape)

• Differential: 

  • • Subdural haematoma- low impact in old/ alcoholic

    • Diffuse axonal injury- no lucid period
