• Caused by thiamine deficiency, usually caused by alcohol dependence

• Triad: ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, confusion

• Management: IV thiamine- treatable

• Will progress to Korsakoff's Dementia if alcohol consumption continues

• Giving carbohydrates without thiamine can worsen condition
