Hypocalcaemia
In CKD impaired 1-alpha-hydroxylation of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (active vitamin D).
Vitamin D calcium and phosphate absorption from GI and kidney and suppress PTH's bone turnover. Therefore a reduction in vitamin D, causes lack of retention of calcium.
